Cabrón beach (Agüimes)

Going down to the coast, Agüimes has a landscape which has been classified as a protected area, for carrying out a special plan for the regulation of the Agüimes coastline.

The Agüimes borough has a 9.9 kilometre-long coastline, which stands out because of it´s enormous beauty. Along it, we find the Arinaga´s beach,Vargas beach, Cabrón beach and several coves.

Cabrón beach is located in the bottom of the mountain of Arinaga and below the lighthouse of the same name. Its seabed is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands, therefore it is an ideal place for underwater diving. It was declared Marine Reserve of Arinaga by the Government of the Canary Islands.

This is the ideal underwater diving for beginners and a perfect place to practice diving courses. Easy access can dive almost all year with a maximum depth of 12 m.

Also in the beach area and along the reef can be found fascinating and colourful fishes, so be aware photographers.

We practically
find the same fish in deep dives of the reservation. In it´s sea bottom you´ll see plenty of different species, not to mention octopus, cuttlefish, spider crabs, etc,.Visibility in this area is rarely less than 15 m.

I recommend because it´s a really peaceful beach. Is not just ideal for underwater diving, next to the beach there are some rocks where small natural swimming pools are formed as you can see in the photo.

It´s worth the ride. You should try underwater diving but if you just want to spent the day, you can get relaxed in it´s blond sand and feel the pleasant sense of freedom in it´s waters.

Surfschools for the whole family in Las Canteras beach (La Cicer)

Las Canteras beach it´s the main beach of the urban city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Nearly 4 kilometers of blond sand and clean transparent water.  The name of the beach has always been linked to the barrier called La Barra, a sedimentary rock, of sandstone and limestone depositions that runs parallel to the shore, providing shelter against the north swell and giving it personality. It was formerly known as Reef beach, because the bar emerged from the water as a reef. It´s the favorite beach of most local people and foreigh visitors, who can enjoy it any time of the year due to it´s great weather conditions with an annual average temperature of 22ºC and 3000 hours of sunlight a year.

In the city of Las Palmas there are three official surf spots for all levels, from spots for beginners to  spots for professionals. The best way to learn this sport is the Beach Break at Playade Las Canteras "La Cicer" here are of course also more surf schools.

There are excellent surfschools available with different types of courses that fit your needs and demands being the perfect place to learn this sport. It´s ideal for families where your children will have fun while learning in a enriching and relaxed atmosphere.
All school courses include material (table, bodyboard and wetsuit), an insurance for the surfing lessons. And always under the supervision of professional trained instructors.

Some schools also have the possibility of photographing and documenting your first our your children´s steps into the world of surfing. The best thing is that you can learn while your kids do so. Or if you already know you can improve your technique on the board too.

The advantage of the location is that your accommodation can be located in the heart of the capital city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There are hotels and apartments situated just 20 meters from the beach, right next to the surf spot of La Cicer. So you are near the surfschool and near the beach where if you decide to rest and relax while your kids are learning you can do so.

You and your kids will hace a great time and will want to repeat. It´s a different way to spend the day in the beach with the whole family.
